Landscape painting is a very meaningful part of my work as a painter.
By taking my time to appreciate the world around me and translating that slow observation into a work of art, I feel deeply connected to the world around me in a way that is verbally almost inexpressible. It’s like putting on a special pair of glasses and seeing the world like you’ve never seen her before.
My approach is always based in observation and appreciation.
I’ll stumble onto a location that resonates with me and I take my time to explore the reason it does. I’ll make compositional sketches on location and then choose to either do an “en plein air” or on-site painting or choose to take reference photographs and sketches and do a studio painting.
